FAQs

  • No. If a learner is not currently enrolled in school, we can use simulated coursework to build and practice skills.

  • Yes. The task and organizational demands of a professional career parallel the skills needed by college students: adhering to due dates, performance-based tasks like writing and presentations, preparation for meetings, managing multiple communication and appointment platforms, keeping track of work. Even though you have the knowledge and skills to understand and do your job, you may need help with figuring how how to actually carry it out. particularly if you are under scrutiny in a high stress, competitive environment. Adults with late or undiagnosed ADHD have typically compensated for executive functioning deficits by using high intelligence. As the requirements of a complex work environment layer with the demands of home, family, and community, it can all become overwhelming and way too much to handle. Anxiety, depression, and work avoidance are often the bi-products of this cycle.

Ann's expertise in coaching adults has developed through experience as a supportive faculty supervisor, graduate student advisor, and a consultant training and coaching teachers.

Work with adult professionals is highly discrete, utterly without judgement, and often in concert with the client's mental health professional.

  • .It depends. Often just knowing that someone understands and “has your back” can reduce anxiety. Sometimes barriers that seem very big are solved with a few effective techniques. Obstacles that are ongoing and complex may need continued support over several semesters. Occasionally clients taper off, then reach out again when they find themselves in an academic situation which requires additional support.

  • At the beginning of our work, we set specific measurable objectives. We self-assess progress quarterly to make sure we are still on track and to measure progress. You’ll know you are making progress when academics or work demands begin to feel a bit easier and you are triggered less.

    .

  • No. The initial consultation is no cost.

During this meeting, Ann will seek to understand exactly what barriers you are facing and how you've already tried to address them. You'll get a sense from the conversation if you are understood and if Ann's knowledge and skills might be helpful to you.

After this initial meeting, Ann will send you a draft of objectives for your comment and adjustment. Based on these objectives, you'll know if Ann understands what you need.

If you choose to work with Ann, we will keep track of your progress toward your objectives. If at any time you are not finding the work to be useful, you are free to end your work with Ann.

Ann's objective is always to work herself out of a job. Sometimes, all it takes is a few sessions to surmount that one particular barrier causing a lot of stress. Sometimes it takes longer. Either way, the client is in control of the goals and assessing their satisfaction with the pace of progress toward those goals.

If you are unsure, discuss the option of a trial few sessions. If it is clear the relationship is not a fit or Ann's service is not what you need, you will receive a full refund.
